roads in the City of Greater Sudbury have experienced significant deterioration during the winter of 2021/2022 due to increased freeze thaw cycles; AND WHEREAS there has been considerable interest from the community and Council to better understand the state of repair of roads and what is being done to improve their condition; AND WHEREAS Council would like to see a better picture of how best to invest in the state of the roads; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Greater Sudbury directs staff to prepare a presentation for the Operations Committee meeting of August 8th, 2022 to explain the factors that affect the life of a road which will include a general explanation of the anatomy of a road, existing capital and operational programs undertaken to improve the condition of roads, and the financial impacts and implications of these programs.
